New Aadhaar Registration: Aadhaar card is one of the important identity documents in India. Irrespective of age, everyone can enroll for Aadhaar card, even a new born child can apply. Aadhaar card for children is also known as Bal Aadhaar Card or Blue Aadhaar Card. Through the official portal of UIDAI, individuals can update their personal information mentioned on Aadhaar card online. Government has launched ‘blue aadhar card’ for children below 5 years of age.

Bal Aadhaar or Blue Aadhaar Card is a blue colored card for children below five years of age and it is free of cost. Blue Aadhaar does not require biometric information (fingerprint and iris scan) of the child. When the child turns 5 years old, his biometrics (photo of the face, iris scan and fingerprints) have to be compulsorily updated on the Aadhaar card.

How to apply for Baal Aadhaar card

Go to the official website of UIDAI – uidai.gov.in

Click on the Aadhaar Card Registration link.

Enter all the credentials including child’s name, parent’s phone number, e-mail address etc.

Fill all the demographic information like residential address, locality, district, state etc.

Go ahead and click on the Fixed Appointment tab. Set the date of registration for Aadhaar card.

The applicant can choose the nearest enrollment center to proceed with the enrollment process.

Do not forget to carry the reference number with you to the center on the date along with all the required documents and printout of the form. Carry a reference number along with the documents. Once the concerned authorities verify and if the age of the child is 5 years, the biometric information will be captured and linked to the Aadhaar card. If the child is below five years, only a photograph will be taken and no biometric data will be required.
