New Delhi: It is raining a lot of runs in the first Test match between Pakistan and England. After four England batsmen, Pakistan batsmen Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafiq created history. Pakistani openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafiq scored centuries in England's chase of a mammoth 657. With this he broke the 38 year old record.


Highest opening stand record for Pakistan

The pair broke the record for the highest opening stand for Pakistan in Test cricket with their 225-run partnership against England. Imam-ul-Haq scored 121 and Abdullah Shafiq scored 114 in a record-breaking partnership. Earlier in 1984, the record of opening partnership of 173 against England was in the name of Mohsin Hasan and Shoaib Muhammad.



Both the openers of both the teams scored centuries.

The centuries after the Pakistani pair created another unique record as it is the first time in Test history that both the openers of the two teams have scored centuries in the first innings of a Test match. England openers Jack Crawley and Ben Duckett also scored centuries in the first innings. Crawley scored 122 while Duckett was dismissed for 107.
